The Bull Fighters

In September, the festival of 'Los Cristos' is held in honour of Christ of the Agonies (el Santísimo Cristo de la Agonía). It is a blend of tradition, religious devotion and popular culture deeply rooted in the history of Calzadilla. Bull runs and the release of fighting bulls in the traditional style are a fundamental part of the celebrations.

The bullfighting festivities take place in the village, in the square and certain streets, which are cordoned off with barriers and suitable fencing to ensure the safety of spectators and participants.

Of particular note are the traditional bull run on horseback, in which the bulls are guided by a mob of horsemen, and the bullfights where each participant demonstrates their skill.
